Reminder: City advises of upcoming critical electricity work in San Remo and Bayview

The City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department would like to inform residents in parts of San Remo and Bayview of critical electricity maintenance to a substation in the area. The work will take place on Friday, 6 September 2024 from 09:00 to 16:00. The City apologises for any inconvenience caused. 

The interruption will only affect the Strandfontein areas of San Remo and Bayview as indicated on the map.

Residents are encouraged to double check the map to see the affected streets.

The outage duration is an estimation and restoration could be delayed due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work. Our teams will work as quickly as possible to complete all work within the 09:00 to 16:00 communicated time.

In the event that power is not restored within communicated timeframes, residents are advised to check the City's official communication channels, including the City's social media channels, or contact the Call Centre before logging a service request in relation to the planned maintenance work.

The City will share an update with residents should the maintenance work affect areas (due to the complex nature of the work required) outside of Bayview and San Remo.

Please note:

The electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption. Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.
